Are you ready for Super Bowl Sunday?
What about a special little someone, is he or she ready?
That’s right, girls love football, too! I know I do. Don’t you think this little football hat would look adorable crocheted with pink yarn?
It can even be made in team colors.
This week, I will be sharing patterns for this crochet football hat, a cute little pair of crochet football booties, and a fun tiny toy football. I hope these patterns will help you get your tiny football fan all suited up for the big game!
The pattern is written with instructions for brown and white yarn, but again, you can use any colors you like.
Another little note, I sometimes tend to crochet a bit on the tighter side. If you tend to crochet loosely, this could even fit a 3-4 month old.
Newborn Football Hat
Supplies:
Size G crochet hook
Brown cotton yarn
White cotton yarn
tapestry needle
Pattern:
*Note: the first ch 3 will not count as a dc. I like that it fills up that little gap that is usually left by counting the ch as a dc. So, when you join, you will join to the actual first dc (not the ch 3), and when you make your first stitch, it will be in the same st as the ch 3.
*Also, when you repeat a stitch pattern around, there will be 2 extra dc at the end of the round. That is ok. It’s supposed to be like that. Just complete the pattern around and fill the last two sts in with a dc.
With the brown yarn, ch 6, join with sl st to the first ch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 3, work 12 dc in ring. Join to first dc with sl st. (12)
Round 2: Ch 3, [2 dc in each st] around. Join. (24)
Round 3: Ch 3, dc, [dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st] around. Join. (31)Switch to white yarn.
Round 4: Ch 3, dc, [dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st] around. Join. (38)Switch back to brown yarn.
Round 5: Ch 3, dc, [dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st] around. Join. (45)
Round 6: Ch 3, dc, [dc in next 5 sts, 2 dc in next st] around. Join. (52)
Round 7: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Join. (52)
Round 8-10: Repeat round 7. (52)Switch to white yarn.
Round 11: Repeat round 7. (52)Switch back to brown yarn.
Round 12: Repeat round 7. (52)Round 13: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join. (52)
Finish off and weave in ends.Find the front, center of the hat. With a tapestry needle and some white yarn, embroider the laces between rounds 6 and 9.
