My Festive Iris Stitch Striped crochet Throw pattern is made in a fun and… well… festive color pattern. The Iris stitch is a beautiful stitch with lots of character, so I decided that it would look best with a simple trim.
The iris stitch is an easy stitch to learn, so this project is perfect to work on while listening to an audio book or watching tv. Come on now, we all do it! Between the larger hook size and the stitch itself, this throw works up quickly and has such a nice drape.
The striped pattern makes the stitch stand out more and highlights the natural wave of each row. This is one of my favorite throws and I really enjoyed making it.
The only drawback of a striped throw is the inevitable weaving in of the ends. This job can be made easier if you use the Russian join method or simply crochet over the ends as you go.

Supplies:Size N crochet hookCaron United yarn: 2 skeins Burgundy, 1 skein Aran, 1 skein Dark Green
Color Pattern:
Colors: A: Burgundy, B: Aran, C: Dark GreenPattern: AABABBCBCCAC
Special Stitch:Iris Stitch: (2dc, ch 1, 2dc) all in same stitch.
Pattern:With color A, Ch 99Row 1: (2dc, ch 1, 2dc) in 5th ch from hook. *skip 3 ch, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch, rep from * to last 2 ch, skip 1 ch, 1 dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 3, skip first 3 dc, *(2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch 1 space, skip next 4 dc, rep from * to last 2 dc, skip last 2 dc, dc in the top of the turning chain. Turn.
Rows 3-48: Repeat row 2, following the color pattern above.
Rows 49-50: Repeat row 2, using color A.
Do not finish off.
Edging:
Round 1: Ch 1, sc in the next 3 dc, *skip ch 1 space, sc in the next 4 dc. Repeat from * to the last ch 1 space. Skip the ch 1 space, sc in last 2 dc, sc in top of turning chain. (98 sc made on this side)
Ch 1, working along the side, sc 100 evenly spaced. (100 sc made on this side)
Ch 1, working the back side of the foundation chain, sc in each across. (98 sc made on this side)
Ch 1, working along the final side, sc 100 evenly spaced. (100 sc made on this side)
Ch 1, join with sl stitch to first sc in round.
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in same as join, dc 96, 2 dc in ch 1 space. (100 dc made on this side)
Ch 1, dc in next 100 sts. (100 dc made on this side)
Ch 1, 2 dc in ch 1 space, dc 96, 2 dc in ch 1 space. (100 dc made on this side)

Join to top of beginning ch 3(the one that counted as 1st dc). We now have 100 stitches on each side.
Round 3: Ch 3, *dc 100, (dc, ch 1, dc) in ch 1 space. Repeat from * 2 times. dc 100, (dc, ch 1) in next ch 1 space.m Join to top of beginning ch 3 with slip stitch.
Round 4: Ch 1, *sc 102, (sc, ch 1, sc in ch 1 space. Repeat from * 2 times. sc 102, (sc, ch 1) in ch 1 space. Join with slip stitch to beginning ch 1.
Finish off and weave in all ends.
