It never fails.
You give your toddler a sippy cup, and it ends up on the floor.
Not so bad if you’re at home, but when you’re out and about… yuck!
The solution: A Sippy Strap!
This strap can be tied to a stroller, a high chair, or even a shopping cart. (Just make sure your child always has adult supervision while using the sippy strap… or any other sort of strap, for that matter.)
The sippy strap is quick and easy to make, and you can let your imagination go wild with color schemes and appliques.
Crochet Sippy Strap
Supplies:
Size H crochet hook
Yarn (of your choice. I used cotton yarn)
A ponytail elastic that will fit snugly around a sippy cup.
Pattern:
Start with a ponytail elastic.
Insert your hook through the center of the elastic and attach yarn to hook.
Work a slip stitch around the elastic by reaching the hook over the top of the elastic and yo to pull a loop through.
Work a sc around the elastic by reaching the hook through the center of the elastic and pull a loop through…
…now put the hook over the top of the elastic, yo…
and pull through both loops on hook.
Continue to work sc around the entire elastic. Keep yarn attached to work on the strap part.
For the strap:
Row 1: Ch 2, hdc in same st, and in the next 7 sts. Turn. (8)
Row 2: Hdc in each st across. Turn. (8)

Row 5: Ch 2, hdc 4. Turn. (4)
Rows 6-34: Repeat row 5 29 times. Do not finish off.

Ch 31, slip st in second ch from hook, and in each ch.
Slip st in the 4 hdc, ch 31, slip st in second ch from hook, and in each ch. Join to the hdc with slip st.

You can attach a flower or other decoration, if desired.
