One thing that we crocheters probably don’t think about often enough is where our pattern is coming from. Now, I don’t mean whether it comes from a book, a magazine, or a website, I’m talking geography. Different geological areas of the world can use different terms and, most notably, different crochet hook sizing.
It is always a good idea to make sure you know the origin of your pattern before you begin a project.
Personally, I will always (unless otherwise noted) use US crochet terms. Last week, I shared a printable chart of common crochet abbreviations. These are all in US terms. I will also use US hook sizing.
I have created a printable of crochet hook conversions, so that you can have it on hand when you need it.
